A 15 minute drive South of Tucson off Duval Mine Exit. Three shopping centers are located adjacent this community.

Duval Mine exit is the biggest exit in the area for shopping. It has recently been further developed adding an additional shopping complex. This exit is the retail hub, heart of the area.

La Joya Verde is at the far North end of Abrego Drive. Technically the community is in Sahuarita despite the streets being labeled as Green Valley.

The cutoff for Sahuarita City is Duval Road which lies directly south of the area. However, the post office in Green Valley services this area so addresses are labeled as Green Valley.

Highlighted section is La Joya Verde Community

This area was developed as three different communities / Home Owners Associations. Three separate builders were featured in this area:

  • AF Sterling
  • Pepper Viner
  • DR Horton

The first two, AF Sterling and Pepper Viner are local builders out of Tucson. Their finishing touches, doorways, ceilings, and archtecture is a little more interesting.

DR Horton finished off a few lots that remainded unsold towards end of development. They added upgrades such as Quartz, plank tile, and tasteful upgrades in those homes.

All homes were constructed of Frame Stucco.

There are three independent Home Owner Associations in the La Joya Verde Area.

La Joya Verde 1 (Rancho Abrego 2)

Click image for more info on Rancho Abrego II Village.

Has a private park but no pool. This community is on the South West side of the area. This is the area where DR Horton built a few homes.

La Joya Verde 2

The North West side of the area. It is age restricted. There is a private park with recreation building, pool, hot tub, horse shoe pits, and pickle ball courts.

La Joya Verde 3 (Rancho Abrego)

East side of Abrego Drive / La Joya Verde community. There is a park featuring pool and basket ball court for this community. The East side of the community is all open space accented by Pecan Orchard and mountains.

Pros of this area

  • Near shopping
  • Short commute to Tucson
  • Quality construction and design
  • No Green Valley Recreation fees

Cons of this area

  • Smaller lots
  • West side is adjacent Interstate

I am often asked if the communities share their parks. They do not. Each park is exclusive to the homeowners in that village.
