I am sure you have seen the copper mines which are clearly visible from Interstate 19.
I can agree, they are a bit of an eye soar.
However, they are completely fascinating.
Their history is quite rich as well and they have provided the means to develop a prosperous economy which we can all appreciate.
Discover a Mining Adventure
Just last week I had the pleasure of visiting the ASARCO Mission Mine in Sahuarita, Arizona.
The tour is awesome. My friend and I forked over a meager $8.00 each. Then they took us on a bus tour up to the open pit and around the mine. After that we visited the factory where they process the oar and extract the copper.
The mine is on a really large piece of land which surprisingly is rich with wildlife including wild horses and long horn cattle. So you will definitely want to have your camera handy.
Registering for the Mine Tour
I would allocate an hour minimum for the tour and looking around the visitor’s center.
The tour can fill up quite quickly. I recommend calling a head for the schedule and to reserve your spot on the tour. Click here to visit, the ASARCO Mine Tour Website to reserve your tour tickets.
